Several Indonesian private universities (PTS) have been included in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 for the SDG 9 category: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
In the 2026 SDG 9 category, THE evaluated 826 universities from 94 countries and territories. This category assesses universities' contributions to innovation, technology development, industry relations, and infrastructure development that support sustainable development.
THE Sustainability Impact Ratings is a global ranking that measures universities' contributions to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to the overall ranking, THE also publishes assessment results for each of the 17 SDGs separately.
Based on the SDG 9 category results with an Indonesia filter, 48 Indonesian universities are listed. Of these, 22 are private universities (PTS), ranging from the 101–200 group to the 801+ group globally.
Indonesian data collected shows BINUS University ranked 101–200 globally. Among the 22 universities, several are from Central Java. Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula) Semarang ranked 9th nationally and 1st in Central Java. Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta ranked 11th nationally and 2nd in Central Java. Satya Wacana Christian University ranked 17th nationally and 3rd in Central Java.
