Muhammad Thoriqul Huda from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education and Dzakiyatil Baroroh from the Faculty of Islamic Studies have been selected as the 2026 Unissula Reading Ambassadors (Duta Baca Unissula). Meanwhile, the titles of Male and Female Runner-up were awarded to M. Hanif Arrizqi from the Faculty of Language, Literature, and Culture, and Syafira Tias Octavia from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, respectively. The announcement of the winners served as the highlight of the 58th-anniversary celebration of the Unissula Library and Publishing Institute (LPP) on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The path to becoming a 2026 Unissula Reading Ambassador involved more than just an administrative screening of curricula vitae (CVs) and video Reels. Finalists were also required to demonstrate their talents and participate in two Q&A sessions designed to test their breadth of knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills.
During the talent showcase, both Muhammad Thoriqul Huda and Dzakiyatil Baroroh presented monologues—or storytelling performances—conveying powerful messages. Their performances went beyond mere public speaking; they utilized storytelling as a medium to share ideas and values. Through their narratives, they illustrated how stories can serve as a vehicle for conveying messages, stimulating thought, and fostering a connection with the audience.
Both also delivered compelling performances during the Q&A sessions. With only one minute to respond, Muhammad Thoriqul Huda and Dzakiyatil Baroroh answered questions with composure and presented their ideas in a focused, coherent manner. Their extensive knowledge and ability to communicate their thoughts effectively were key components of their performance throughout the competition.
The titles of Male and Female Runner-up were awarded in recognition of the achievements of M. Hanif Arrizqi and Syafira Tias Octavia throughout the selection process. The four students underwent an assessment process that allowed them to demonstrate their potential, insights, and ability to articulate ideas regarding literacy.
The selection of this year’s winners also marks a transition in the role of Unissula’s Literacy Ambassadors (Duta Baca Unissula) from the previous term. For 2025, the title of Unissula Literacy Ambassador is held by Muhammad Mikhail Faqih and Vina Marshela, both from the Faculty of Communication Sciences.
LPP Unissula extends its congratulations to Muhammad Thoriqul Huda, Dzakiyatil Baroroh, M. Hanif Arrizqi, and Syafira Tias Octavia on their achievement. This title is not merely an award for their success in the competition, but also a responsibility—a mandate to serve as role models and catalysts for a culture of literacy within the campus community.
Through the 2026 Unissula Literacy Ambassadors, it is hoped that the spirit of literacy cultivated by their predecessors will continue to thrive and evolve. The newly appointed ambassadors are expected to encourage their fellow students to engage more deeply with books, broaden their horizons, foster a tradition of critical thinking, and utilize technology wisely when seeking and processing information.
In line with the theme of LPP Unissula’s 58th anniversary—"READ, Discover, Empower: AI Can Inspire, Human Must Inquire"—the 2026 Literacy Ambassadors are expected to reinforce the understanding that literacy extends beyond reading; it encompasses the courage to ask questions, the ability to critically examine information, and a commitment to lifelong learning. In this way, the Literacy Ambassadors will contribute to the development of an academic community that is critical, broad-minded, and empowered through literacy.
