Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula) Semarang has officially received authorization to launch an Applied Bachelor’s (D4) study program in Tax Accounting within its Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). This authorization is stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 1232/B/O/2026, dated October 14, 2026. The introduction of this new study program represents a strategic move by Unissula to expand its higher education offerings while addressing the demand for professionals in the fields of accounting and taxation.
The D4 Tax Accounting program is designed with a focus on mastering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students will develop competencies in recording transactions, preparing financial statements, calculating and reporting taxes, managing tax administration, and analyzing financial data. The curriculum is intended to integrate the use of digital technology and accounting software, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to adapt to evolving business landscapes and tax administration systems.
Regarding career prospects, graduates of this program have a wide range of opportunities. They may pursue roles such as tax officers, tax accountants, accounting and finance staff, tax administrators, or junior auditors. Such positions are available within private companies, industrial firms, financial institutions, consulting firms, and various other organizations that require professionals to manage finances and fulfill tax obligations.
Beyond traditional employment, graduates also have the potential to establish their own bookkeeping and financial administration services, catering to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, they may pursue careers as tax consultants, provided they meet the necessary certification and licensing requirements. Graduates are also eligible to apply for positions within government agencies, subject to their educational qualifications and the availability of specific job openings. As an institution of higher education that integrates academic knowledge with Islamic values, Unissula is committed to producing graduates who are not only academically and professionally competent but also possess integrity, honesty, diligence, and a sense of responsibility. These values are essential in the fields of accounting and taxation, which are closely linked to financial management, transparent reporting, and compliance with laws and regulations.
With the launch of the D4 (Diploma IV) Accounting and Taxation study program, Unissula—through its Faculty of Economics and Business—aims to further contribute to the development of a competent workforce prepared to meet the demands of the professional world. The implementation of a relevant curriculum, practice-based learning, internship programs, and partnerships with the business and industrial sectors are expected to play a vital role in preparing graduates who are professional, possess high integrity, and are capable of contributing to society and national development.
