The English Language Education Study Program at the Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Culture (FBSB) of Unissula Semarang has further expanded its international footprint through the participation of two students, Putri Arifatul Ilmiyah and Mutiara Izzah Rabbani, in the SEA-TEACHER Batch 11 program in the Philippines in October 2026.
For approximately one month, the two students participated in an International Teaching Practicum, gaining teaching experience within an international educational environment. The program offers students an opportunity to develop their teaching skills while becoming familiar with the educational systems and cultures of other countries.
As part of their activities, Putri and Mutiara also had the opportunity to visit the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Philippines. They met with Agus Trenggono, an experience that served as an introduction to the international landscape within Southeast Asia.
The Head of the English Language Education Study Program at Unissula, Dr. Nur Ekaningsih, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that the SEA-TEACHER program provides strategic benefits for the development of student competencies. "This program helps enhance teaching skills and English communication proficiency. Furthermore, students can develop adaptability, gain an understanding of cultural differences, and build self-confidence as well as an international network," she said (October 22, 2026).
According to her, the experience of teaching abroad serves as a vital foundation for students as they prepare to become professional, competitive, and globally-minded educators.
Throughout the program, the two students were guided by Nani Hidayati, S.Pd., M.Pd., a faculty supervisor who also serves as the Coordinator for the Teaching Internship Programs (Internships 1, 2, and 3) for the English Language Education program at FBSB Unissula. The students completed their teaching practicum at Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) in the Philippines.
Participation in SEA-TEACHER Batch 11 reflects the commitment of the English Language Education Study Program at Unissula to providing a globally-oriented learning experience. Through this program, Unissula continues to encourage students to broaden their academic experience, enhance their professional competencies, and prepare themselves to become English teachers capable of working on an international stage.
