The Unissula tennis team succeeded in accomplishing an impressive achievement in the final of the invitational tennis tournament among Semarang Private Universities (PTS) on Gotong Royong Ambarawa tennis court on Saturday (29/6). Unissula defeated Universitas PGRI Semarang 2-1 through a grueling struggle, while Universitas Veteran won in the third place.

The Sumardi-Heru Sulistyo pair performed heroically by being the winner in the third match. Meanwhile, the double match was won by Heru Isnawan-Slamet Riyadi from Unimus. In the final, they beat Zaini Bisri-Ngadi. Suara Merdeka also won third place together through Mustajib-Ari to accompany Ismadi-Ahmad from Udinus.

The tournament was attended by seven private universities namely Unwahas, Unimus, Univet, Upgris, Udinus, USM, and the host of Unissula, plus representatives from Suara Merdeka as media partners. In addition to the team and individual numbers, there was also an exhibition match among university leaders. The first championship was opened by Unissula Rector, Ir. Prabowo Setiyawan, M.T., Ph.D., followed by the signing of the MoA among the participating universities.

Unissula’s best players in the competition were Taufiq Nasichun, Ibnu Khajar, Heru Sulistyo, Sukarno, Sumardi, Darsuki, Syaiful, Krisna Suhendi, Bedjo Santoso, Eni Widayati, and Prabowo Setiyawan.
