Islamic Law (Shariah) Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies Unissula in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of the Application of Islamic Values (LKPI) held a Ramadhan 1440H Imsakiyah workshop at Unissula Kaligawe campus (25/4). The speakers included Drs. Slamet Hambali, M.Si. (Unissula’s lecturer in Falak Shariah) and Dr. Ahmad Fadholi, M.Si. (LF PWNU Central Java).

According to Hambali, the calculation of the beginning of Ramadhan and the beginning of Shawwal for this year (for NU, Muhammadiyah, Persis, and the Government) were almost certainly the same. “According to our calculations, the 1st day of Ramadan will arrive on May 6th. There is no difference in the determination of the beginning of Ramadan fasting and the beginning of Shawwal among NU, Muhammadiyah, Persis, and the Government,” Hambali said.

Meanwhile, the Head of LKPI Dr. Ghofar Shiddiq stated that falakiah is a very important science for Muslims because it relates to important practices in religion such as prayer, Qibla direction, the beginning of Ramadan, the beginning of Dhulhijah and the others.
