The Faculty of Nursing Unissula initiated a movement to increase public awareness to improve the health of children and toddlers through the Integrated Services Post (Posyandu) Revitalization Program held in Karang Roto village (18/7). Revitalization was attended by Sukati, Amd. The supervisor of the area was from the Bangetayu Community Health Center, and was joined by 10 Posyandu cadre members. Unissula Nursing Lecturer, Ns. Iskim Luthfa, S.Kep., M.Kep., conveyed the key to successful Posyandu  implementation, namely cadres. The activeness of cadres as the main pillar in the implementation of Posyandu is very important to be considered.

Cadres must understand well the main program of Posyandu activities and be able to carry it out through 5 tables namely registration, weighing and measurement, recording, health education, and health services. Iskim further explained that there are no special requirements to become a cadre, the most important thing is being able to read and write, have a social life and have a willingness to work voluntarily, have free time, live in the posyandu area, and have willingness to take part in trainings to improve her competence.

Another factor that also influenced the implementation of the Posyandu is the involvement of the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) as the local supervisor. Puskesmas Bangetayu as a Manggis Posyandu Trustee in Karang Roto Village has routinely conducted cadre training and meetings, as well as mentoring the implementation of Posyandu every month. The puskesmas also facilitates and complements the infrastructure needed for implementing the Posyandu.

The successful implementation of Posyandu is also inseparable from the participation of the community. There needs to be involvement of community leaders, religious leaders, and government organizations that are able to persuade the community, especially families who have toddlers to bring their children to the Posyandu.

It is hoped that with the increase in cadre competency, complete Posyandu infrastructure, regular facilitation and guidance by the Puskesmas, and support from the wider community, toddlers’ visit to Posyandu can be achieved according to the target. So that in the end the health of children and toddlers can be improved.
