Pharmacy Program of Unissula held a curriculum workshop (3-4 / 1) in preparation for the establishment of Professional Pharmacist Study Program (PPSP) in the near future. “After Pharmaceutical study program got B for the accreditation some time ago, we are ready to open  pharmacist profession” said the head of  Pharmacy study program, Rina Wijayanti MSc Apt. According to her, the preparation has reached 75%, and will continue to be pursued for immediate realization.

“Various preparations have been made. We have contacted various parties to establish cooperation / MoU related to student practice place, inviting Association of Indonesian Pharmacy College (AIPC) for discussion of compilation form, preparing human resources, until holding this curriculum preparation workshop to get input on professional pharmacist curriculum, “she said.

According to him, to open a new study program, there are at least nine criteria that must be met, such as vision, mission, curriculum, human resources management-minimally lecturer graduating from master of pharmacy, finance, facilities and infrastructure, and others.

As participants in this workshop were Unissula’s curriculum team of Faculty of Medicine, representatives from Unpad, Unsoed, UGM, Municipal and Provincial Health Office, National Pharmaceutical Committee (NPC), Indonesian Pharmacist Association (IPA), Food and Drug Control Agency (FDCA), Hospitals (RT Wongsonegoro, Tugurejo Hospital, RISA, Karyadi), pharmaceutical distributor Parit Padang Corporation, Kimia Farma drugstore, VIVA generic drugstore to Paphros industry, Kimia Farma, Victoriacare Indonesia, and Indonesian Council of Ulama.

Through this workshop, each party representing its expertise was asked to review and provide curriculum proposals to fit the needs of each job site. “Hopefully we get the idea that graduates of pharmacists must master the competencies which are really needed by the field, so that the curriculum will adjust later.” Rina said.

The purpose of the opening of this pharmacist profession, according to Rina, was to facilitate undergraduate students to be able to continue the pharmacist profession at Unissula, with a study period of 1 year. “Currently the need for pharmacists is getting increasing. Whereas in Indonesia, among hundreds of univiersities which has a pharmacy major only 38 which have a study program of pharmacist profession. Therefore, Unissula will try to meet its shortcomings. “She said.

Meanwhile, the explanation of the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy Unpad Prof. Dr. Ajeng Diantini Msi Apt said “The challenges of the health world today is increasingly difficult. It takes collaboration from various health workers to meet the needs of the community. “While in education, according to him,” Let us not only focus on the substance of science, but the implementation of learning methods is also very important, so it is going to be easy to get to students. “He said.

Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine Dr. Hadi Sarosa MKes welcomed the plan to open PPSP study program at Unissula. He also thanked all the invited attendees. “The purpose of this curriculum workshop is to reach the most optimal points of contact from stakeholders, users and other institutions in the hope of collaborating in the future.” He said at the same time as opening the event.
