In order to increase the number of publications in reputable journals, Unissula organized an Academic Writing Workshop with the theme “ How to Write Review Paper to Publish in International Reputated Journals” on (23/10/2018) at the Faculty of Industrial Technology.

The activity attended by 20 selected lecturers from visiting professor program was opened by the chairman of LPPM Unissula, Dr. Heru Sulistyo SE MSi. In his speech, he appreciated this activity because it would add to the skills and expertise of lecturers so as to create an atmosphere of research and publication at Unissula.

“LPPM Unissula is very supportive of activities like this because at Unissula, currently, for research and publication activities are experiencing a positive trend. Because in 2017, there were 30 papers indexed by Scopus, ” explained the Head of LPPM

“We are happy with the positive trend that happened to Unissula. We do not see in terms of quantity but rather how to create an atmosphere of research and publication. We hope that this activity will further add to the skills, expertise and interests of Unissula lecturers, “he concluded.

Acting as the workshop speaker was Prof. Dr. Ali Selamat from the Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT ) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

On this occasion he shared his experience in writing papers and sharing tips and tricks in making journals that could be published in reputable journals.

“There are two main things that need to be considered in making journals so that they can be easily published in reputable journals. First, the paper must have novelty and contribute to the development of science and technology or social society. This can be assessed from the state of the arts described and from the references used so as to convince the reviewer that the paper contains novelty values” he explained.

Furthermore, the MJIIT Dean explained the second thing that is important to note is that the author must be able to interpret the data correctly and be able to explain the research results correctly.

In addition to the two main points, the author also needed to pay attention to other key points such as the title, relevant literature, consistency of conclusions with the object of research, explanation of methodology, correct English which is able to explain the contents of the journal well.
