Unissula held a workshop by presenting special staff of the Ministries of Research and Technology and Higher Education, Dr Abdul Wahid Maktub  at Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA) (19/1). The workshop addressed the latest policies of the Ministries of Research and Technology and Higher Education in welcoming the industrial revolution 4.0.

According to Abdul Wahid that today there is a very rapid change in all sides of life of which is  supported by technological advances that touch almost all lines of life. It must be addressed properly. If not, then it will wait for time to be obsolete and abandoned. “Those who survive in the future are those who are able to provide the right response” said the former ambassador of Republic of Indonesia to Qatar.

Responding to these very rapid, unidentifiable, complex, and ambiguous changes  is important to have a clear vision, readiness, a clear focus, and agile and nimble. “Character becomes the distinguishing factor in this era. Information technology provides ease and speed while religion becomes the direction. We may be quick but the direction must be right. The hassle is slow and has no clear direction “concluded Abdul Wahab.

The first industrial revolution was marked by the invention of the steam engine. The second industrial revolution was marked by the invention of electricity and the third industrial revolution is characterized by computing, and today we are entering an era of combinations of all three that make everything run very fast.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Unissula, Anis Malik Thoha, Lc. M.A., Ph.D. stated that in this era education also needs to clean up to anticipate the development of this very fast trend. “The campus should have a 4.0 specification, as well as lecturers and students must also have a 4.0 specification.” Anis concluded.
