In an effort to avoid plagiarism, Department for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Unissula organized training on reference management at Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula) (28/12/2017).

The training activities were attended by about 60 lecturers from various faculties of  Unissula. “The training is very important for Unissula Lecturers, and the mastery of the skills and management skills in terms of the reference will help the lecturers avoid accidental plagiarism due to technical negligence,” said Dr. Heru Sulistyo SE MSi, Chairman of LPPM in his speech.

“Beginning in January 2018, the proposal submission at Unissula will be online through the Information System of Community Research and Service (SIPMAS) and one of the conditions is to use reference management”, he added.

“We hope, what is gained from this training can also be taught and familiarized by students for its use,” said Heru.

Lecturer of STAIN Kudus Ekawati Rahayu Ningsih, S.H., M.M., the keynote speaker in the occasion raised the theme of “standardized citation & reference style” and “Mendeley application usage tutorial”.

Eka stated that the low productivity and the impact of the work in Indonesia is due to the low online publication in accredited journals (both national and international) and the citation & reference style which have not met particular standards.

In detail, the Head of LPPM Stain Kudus then explained step by step the use of Mendeley application for the purposes of citing and storing data of individual scientific works.

“The use of reference management applications is beneficial to us in the academic world. It eases our work. Furthermore, our work processes make scientific work will also be appreciated. In addition we also appreciate the scientific work of others,” he concluded.
